Araku Valley

Araku is unique due to its significant tribal population, which has enriched the valley with a distinct cultural landscape. The local tribes are famous for their traditional Dhimsa dance, and the government, along with various NGOs, has worked to preserve this heritage. The Tribal Museum in Araku is a tribute to this - allowing visitors to explore the lifestyle, customs, and artifacts of the native tribes.

More recently, Araku has also emerged as a hub for adventure tourism. The valley offers opportunities for trekking, rock climbing, and other adventure sports. Trav travellers,into the valley can find themselves hiking through untouched trails or camping under the stars in the midst of nature.

Itinerary
Day 1 : MUMBAI – VIZAG

Arrive at Vizag Airport or Railway station. Meet & greet by Aradhana’s representative. Tour Starts. Upon arrival transfer to Hotel.

After relaxation, in the evening will visit Shimhachalam, the Simhachalam temple is an ornate shrine which is revered to be one of the most important temples in the region. The edifice is perched atop a hill 800 metres above the sea level and is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, who is an incarnation of Vishnu himself.

Simhachalam Temple is embellished with extremely detailed stone carvings and design and can be spotted from a distance. This is the only temple in the country where Shri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swami- who is a combination of the third and fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu- appears. Lord Narasimha appears here in the tribhanga posture and has two hands with the head of a lion on a human torso.

A shrine which follows strict discipline, the Simhachalam temple has detailed prayer routines for all days of the year which are undisturbed by the influx of pilgrims. This place is a treasure of traditional Vaishnavite culture, and you can study the same in the routine of the temple and the various inscriptions that it houses.

Interestingly, the statue of the deity appears in its true form only for 12 hours per year on the day of Akshaya Tritiya. On any other occasion, the idol is covered with sandalwood paste.

After darshan proceed to R K Beach, Borrowing its name from the Rama Krishna Ashram of Visakhapatnam, the RK beach or the Rama Krishna Mission Beach is the largest beach of Vizag. A stretch of turquoise waters border the beach and kisses the white sand shore. The surrounding greenery is a stark contrast to the red skies in the evenings when tourists and locals flock here to watch the breathtaking sunset. Dinner & Overnight in Hotel.

Day 2 : VIZAG

After breakfast depart for Bheemli Beach - The long beautiful and pristine Bheemunipatnam Beach is located at the assemblage of Gosthani River and the Bay of Bengal. It also houses the remains of a 17th century fort and cemetery, reveling history dating back to the Dutch era.

After will visit ThotlaKonda, Located on a hilltop, this is an almost 2000-year-old Buddhist complex that overlooks the sea. This complex finds its roots in the ancient Kalinga Empire that was majorly responsible for spreading Buddhism in Southeast Asia. It was a major site for Roman trade and missionary activities as seen from the excavations that led to the discovery of Roman-era silver coins, terracotta tiles, miniature stupa models, and scriptures in Brahmi script, etc.

This almost 120-acre site comprises a Mahastupa, 11 rock-cut water cisterns, a congregation hall, and chaityagrihas. The site is now protected by the Andhra Pradesh government and houses sacred Buddhist relics that are a must-see. This is a great place, amongst one of the most intriguing places to visit in Visakhapatnam, especially for people who follow Buddhism and spirituality. Spending time in quietude enveloped by a cool breeze and sounds of the sea waters, and sharing the space of the thousand-year-old iconic heritage gives an amazingly surreal feeling.

In the evening we’ll visit Visakha Museum The museum is dated back to about 260 BC, tracing through the history of the city and depicting the various aspects of culture that the city inhabits. Submarine Museum, The museum is inside an actual submarine, INS Kurusura, which was India's 5th submarine. The museum is situated on RK beach, near the War Memorial in Visakhapatnam. The museum has artefacts, pictures and articles that share stories of strength, sacrifice and patriotism of the warriors. They give insights on how difficult surviving can be with limited space and resources hundreds of feet underwater. The INS Kurusura served the Indian Navy for 31 years before it was decommissioned in 2001.

Post that, it was used a museum to spread awareness about Indian Naval Forces, the technology used and its development in India. It is a one of a kind project that was launched by the Eastern Naval Command. The interiors of the submarine have been re-arranged to allow a clear view to the visitors. It is the only Submarine Museum in the entire of Asia. TU 142 Naval Aircraft Museum, One of the most popular tourist places in Visakhapatnam, this is TU 142 Naval aircraft that has been converted into a museum. This aircraft had a history of flying for over 30,000 hours in an accident-free service to the Indian Navy. After 30 years of service, it was decommissioned and opened for visitors. It is one of the best places for people who love planes and the engineering behind them.

You step into a whole new world inside the aircraft. You will see an array of aeronautical equipment like propellers, survival kits, engine, sonobuoys, anti-submarine missiles, date recorder, black box, parachutes, etc. and much more. Visitors are led through the aircraft through an audio guide explaining about each display. The highlight of the museum is a flight simulator platform that you can enjoy through a virtual reality interface. Dinner & Overnight in Hotel.

Day 3 : VIZAG – ARAKU

After breakfast checkout and proceed to Araku. Enroute we’ll visit Araku Valley’s renowned aromatic CoffeePlantations , and sneak-peeking at these plantations is a treat for coffee enthusiasts. Galikonda View Point. On arrival check in to Hotel & relax. In the evening visit Tribal Museum - Opened in 1996 by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, the Araku Tribal Museum depicts the tribal culture of Andhra Pradesh. From utensils, jewellery, hunting tools to wedding photographs, the museum gives a taste of what traditional tribal life. Coffee Museum, in 1930, a migrant by name Prakash Rao had set up a catering service for tourists to highlight the uniqueness of the Arabica Coffee. In 1954, he started a Coffee house, which catered to foreign delegates and coffee traders. However, it is now open to all. The museum manned by educated tribal staff showcase a series of pictures detailing the origin and history of coffee. Dinner & Overnight in Hotel.

Day 4 : ARAKU
After Breakfast visit Chaaparai waterfall, a beautiful water cascade situated on Paderu - Araku Road. Also known as Dumbriguda Waterfalls, it is a scenic place surrounded by forests and is one of the popular Araku Tourist Places. Chaparai Waterfalls is a popular tourist attraction, with its endless streams that cut across big rock formations of Araku Valley. The area around the waterfalls has become a popular site for picnicking, owing to the presence of the beautiful stream flowing through wide rock formations. Smooth slanting rocks interrupt the stream, making a huge natural water slide. This waterfall is highly attractive and allures lots of tourists. Araku Pinery, a new eco-tourism initiative started by the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department in Anjoda. This new tourist destination, a one-of-its-kind government initiative at the region, is developed on a patch of pine plantation overlooking the valley and being managed by the Van Sanrakshan Samiti (VSS) of the local tribal community of Shantinagar village. Nestled in the lap of the valleys of Eastern Ghats, here you can escape the confines of a rushed city life. Here, the air is instantly cleaner and the surroundings, greener. In the evening we’ll visit Padmapuram Botanical Garden, If you love unravelling the bounty of lush green escapes, a visit to this Botanical Gardens might be admirable for you. This serenity of the site showcases a wide variety of exotic flora and fauna. You can take leisurely strolls through the vibrant flower bed valleys, relax by the eco-friendly tree houses, or spend peaceful hours amid the tranquillity of nature. The prime highlight is a century-old train, featuring joyrides to the visitors. After that will visit Chocklet Factory. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.
Day 5 : ARAKU – VIZAG

After Breakfast, proceed To Vizag. Enroute visit Borra caves Located on the east coast of India, the Borra Caves are situated in the Ananthagiri hills of the Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district. Breath taking hilly terrain, beautiful landscape, semi-evergreen moist deciduous forests, and wild fauna of the Borra Caves are a visual feast.

A marvelous creation of nature, the Borra caves were formed when river waters flow through a limestone area, and the calcium carbonate turns into calcium bicarbonate, which is easily washed out by the running water. The most striking feature of the caves is its exquisite variety of speleothems ranging in size. After sightseeing, proceed to Vizag. Dinner and overnight stay at Hotel.

Day 6 : VIZAG

After breakfast visit Balaji Temple. Kailashgiri, located in the scenic locales of Vizag, Kailash Giri is a beautiful hilltop park perched at a height of 360 ft. Sprawling over 100 acres of lush green land area, the park is perched on a hilltop and it offers scenic panoramic vistas of the surroundings and the beach below. The highlight of the place are the magnificent 40 feet statues of Shiva and Parvati painted in white.

Tenetti Park, is named after Tenetti Viswanadham who is a well-known political figure of Visakhapatnam and a freedom fighter. A statue of the politician was installed in the park premises, which can be seen as soon as you enter through the gate of Tenneti Beach Park.

After lunch, proceed to Dolphin’s Nose - this 174 m high rocky headland is situated in the south of Vizag. The nose seems to be protruding out towards the Bay of Bengal giving it a rather fascinating look.

A renowned powerful light house highly useful for the shippers and has a light beam that can be seen as far as 64 km out at sea is also placed nearby. There is also a hill nearby named the Dolphin hill and is a restricted Armed forces residential area. Later visit Yarada Beach. (An Unexplored Beach) an entrancing site which is surrounded by hills on three sides and the Bay of Bengal on the fourth, covered with lush greenery and soft golden sands all over.The beach is situated at a distance of 15 km from Visakhapatnam and does not remain very crowded. Yarada Beach is by far one of the safest and cleanliest beaches in India at present. The area is covered with coconut and banana plantations. Return back to Hotel for overnight stay.

Day 7 : VIZAG

After breakfast, drop at Airport for your return journey. Tour Ends with Happy Memories.
